Why I became a BeautyCounter consultant
August 23, 2020 | Beauty
I was first introduced to BeautyCounter three years ago. When I started using the products, I was simply looking for a better tinted moisturizer and bath products for my (then) two-year-old with ingredients that I could actually pronounce. What I found was knowledge, confidence, and community.
The lack of regulations in the United States on products we put on our bodies is astounding. My boys deserve better. I deserve better. And so do you. We all do. I had tried my fair share of “clean” products, but besides breaking my budget, I honestly didn’t see much of a change in my complexion. I slowly started incorporating more BeautyCounter products into my daily regimen, and thanks to my consultant, I discovered a routine that worked for my skin and my bank account. My son’s eczema clearing up and my husband telling me I looked younger than the day we met was just icing on the cake. I felt so much better; I significantly reduced the amount of makeup I wore thanks to newfound confidence.
At this point in my #betterbeauty journey, I was also at a pivotal crossroads in my life and my career. Anxiety and stress at an all-time high, lingering ppd, and a relentless job where the hits just kept on coming, had me (and my family) spiraling. Reaching for the only thing I felt like I could control at the time, I did a complete inventory of my skincare, makeup, and bath items and decided to make the clean swap on my final few products. When texting my consultant about makeup brushes and bronzer, I curiously asked what it was like working for BeautyCounter. And what did it take to be successful? Over the next few days, I had conversations with three women who have made clean beauty their business. They are kind, friendly, encouraging, and passionate. My clean living journey had led me straight to the front steps of a supportive community of women who believed completely in each other and their organization’s mission and values. It was a breath of fresh air and an easy decision. Complicated, sure (who quits a full-time job in the middle of a pandemic??), but easy.
I am re-energized for the first time in a long time. BeautyCounter has helped me find new inspiration, while also supporting my desire to be immensely more present in my children’s lives. I will never stop wanting to educate, and right now that primary focus gets to be on two little boys, and helping the people I care about find safer, high-performing alternatives to products they use every day. Why? Because beauty should be good for you.
