Free.

With March already upon us, I want to share my word of the year before this year really gets away from me. To be honest, I never really understood the concept of a “word of the year”, and I think I rarely slow down enough to reflect on each year, let alone set intentions or expectations for the next. But if there was any year to do so, it should be the one where I’m going to be trying a lot of new things, and showing up in a lot of new, authentic ways. So 2021 it is. I feel like this year holds a lot of expectations for a lot of people, but my vision for these next 12 (now 10) months is simple, and comes down to one word - FREE.

When I think about all that I shed in 2020: expectations, facades, jobs, stories that held me under water for years, containment inside this picture perfect box I tried desperately to create and live within.. there was no other answer for me than to approach 2021 with all the freedom in the world on my heart. So I have set the word free as my intention for each day, but also for the future. It serves as a guiding principle and reminder as I make daily decisions, both large and small.

I sat with this word, and several other options, for most of December before fully committing. The entire process started as a fun activity with a few close friends, but quickly grew into an incredibly profound exercise full of reflection and expansion (for all of us). But I didn’t want to just set the intention and walk away; I wanted to honor it, to fully feel like I was living in it. And if I’m really honest, I wanted accountability (just ask my trainer, Susan. I thrive with accountability in my life).

So I headed to Blonde&BeadShop, who has created beautiful custom bracelets for me in the past. Working within my vision she found a stone in her collection that couldn’t have been more perfect if I had made it up myself: labrodite. Labrodite is known as a stone of transformation, imparting strength and perseverance. It is said to balance you, protect the aura, strengthen faith in the self and trust in the universe, all while stimulating inner awareness and the imagination, helping you become the person you are destined to be. Yep, b&b nailed it with this one, creating an addition to my daily stack that holds so much power, and serves as a daily reminder that I am FREE.

Free to be me; the highest version possible.

Free from the weight of my past.

Free to forgive.

Free to heal.

Free to lean into parts of myself I’ve never been comfortable sharing with the world... the artist I never felt “good enough” to show up as.

Free to open my heart, mind and soul to new opportunities and possibilities...

...and to say no to what, or who, no longer feels aligned.

Free to love new friends in new ways.

Free to honor myself, my needs.

Free to slow the F down.

Free to play and have more fun.

Free to be fully present for my children, my husband.

Free to redesign life for my family in a way that feels good (and is aligned AF).

Free to trust: myself, my faith, my journey.

Free to dream.

Free to just BE ✨

Do you have a word of the year? If so, share it below! It’s not too late to declare an intention for 2021 - I genuinely love hearing about the intentions set by those I love! And that’s you!🤍
